LITTLE FERRY — Borough police have released a surveillance photo and description of the man who robbed a TD Bank on Main Street Sunday afternoon and are asking that any information about the incident be forwarded to their department.

A white male roughly 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt, blue jeans, work boots and a dark gray wool hat entered the bank at 225 Main St. around 1 p.m. Sunday, police said. He had facial hair and appeared to be in his 20s.

The man presented a teller with a note demanding money and, as he kept his right hand in the pocket of his sweat shirt, said he had a weapon, Chief Ralph Verdi said in a news release Monday. When the teller hesitated, the man grabbed the bank employee from across the counter and ripped money out of her hand, Verdi said.

The man then ran out the door and toward the rear of the bank with $3,900 in stolen cash, Verdi said. A K-9 unit from the Bergen County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene but was not able to track the man, who may have left in a vehicle.

Verdi said the Little Ferry Police Department is working with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office to investigate the robbery. Authorities have asked that anyone with information about the incident contact Detective Sgt. Ronald Klein Jr. at 201-641-2770.
