UPDATE: Montclair woman found dead on Dec. 1

Montclair police are requesting help in locating a township woman reportedly missing since last week.

Family members of Sarah Butler, 20, reported her missing on Wednesday, Nov. 23, according to a statement from the Montclair Police Department. She was last seen on Nov. 22 at about 8 p.m., police said.

Butler is described as black, 5-foot-5, weighing 170 pounds, and of medium build. She has brown eyes, black and red hair, and a medium to dark complexion, according to police.

She was last seen wearing a black zip-up jacket labeled "Premiere Dance Theater," with orange stripes, and large men's reading glasses, silver hoop earrings, dark blue jeans, a black headband, tall black boots, and a black side-bag with a long strap, according to police.

She was driving a light blue and gray 2007 Dodge Caravan with yellow scrapes along the rear driver side, police said.

Her old sister, Bassania Daley, told The Montclair Times that Butler's last known whereabouts was a recording studio in Orange.

"Her family loves her and wants her to return home," Daley said. "She is a very good girl, so this is way out of her character. She never would have done anything like this."

Butler is a full-time college student at New Jersey City University in Jersey City, and was home for the Thanksgiving holiday break, according to her family.

She has been a part of Premiere Dance Theatre for more than 17 years and performed at the Apollo Theater. Her family said that she loves to help younger students and dancers and is a devoted amateur makeup artist. She performed at her college on 9/11 this year.

She was a member of the Montclair High School Dance Company, and is a lifeguard at the Montclair YMCA.

"Anyone information will be very valuable," Daley said.
